This exhibition explores the evolving relationships between humans, animals, and technology, centering on the canaryas both a historical and contemporary subject. Through video, sound, installation, and performance, it examines empathy, captivity, and the fragile coexistence between species. From colonial trade to modern pet culture, the canary’s journey reveals how animals became cultural symbols shaped by human desire. Once a miner’s sentinel and household singer, the canary now reflects changing ethics around domestication and control. The exhibition reconsiders humanity’s longing to connect with, possess, and preserve nature in an increasingly technological world.
