An egg has left the mother's body, but the life inside has not yet begun to form. Resting between nest and egg carton, a translucent egg glows from within. In poultry farming, this moment is where decisions are made. Fertilized or unfertilized, viable or waste, female or male. The egg is candled, scanned, and sorted before any nervous system exists to register what is happening. The interval before life is also the interval of maximum control.
